Having been denounced as a one team league for too long, the Bundesliga looks like it might just be coming back. Thanks to the tremendous form of Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach and Werder Bremen, we have a league worth watching this year. However, for many, none of the above are the most impressive sides so far.
That honor instead goes to Eintracht Frankfurt. As The Eagles watched their manager go out the door in the summer, new coach Adi Hutter appeared to have a tough job on his hands. However, he’s quickly shown people how it’s done: Frankfurt have scored a ridiculous 19 goals in the league, the joint second most. Conceding 12 might not be great, but they’ve seen some incredible scorelines in recent weeks – not least a 7-1 destruction of Fortuna Dusseldorf at the weekend!
They also put Apollon Limassol to the word in Europe, bringing a win of runs to a wild six. Their last loss was a 3-1 reverse to Gladbach away back in September. The likes of Sebastian Haller – who looks every bit the star who once dominated in the Eredivise for Utrecht – banging in an impressive 5 goals and laying on 5 assists already, things are looking very good for Eintracht.
Add in the impressive form of dependable players like Lucas Torro, Jonathan de Guzman, Filip Kostic and especially Luka Jovic – who has scored 7 goals already – and it’s easy to see why people are so excited. Throw in the Duracell bunny on the wing in Ante Rebic, and Frankfurt might just be the best team to watch in the Bundesliga at this moment in time.
While Dortmund are the ones flying sky-high at the top, it’s the Eagles who are winning hearts and minds across Europe.
