Though they might not be the most prestigious club in Germany, Hoffenheim have become a fine example of what can be built at a small club. Under the watchful eye of Dietmar Hopp, the club has been transformed into a bit of a Bundesliga performer – often fighting for Europe and developing young talent. One of their best examples of a player improving all the time is in their Brazilian powerhouse, Joelinton.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a fine season last year, scoring 7 goals and getting 5 assists in 28 Bundesliga games. Tough he’s not a consistent goalscorer, he’s a habitual big-game player and has a fine record when it comes to dribbling, link-up with his teammates, and long-range shots. A move outside of Hoffenheim has been linked, with Newcastle United the most strongly linked.

A powerful and defensively sound player, he would be an excellent replacement for Salomon Rondon, who has left the club after his loan spell. Excellent in the air but also great when it comes to holding onto the ball and bringing in teammates, Joelinton would thrive in England.

Other clubs in Germany have been tentatively linked, too, including Borussia Dortmund. BVB are known to be on the lookout for a player upfront, and a move to the Westfalenstadion would make a lot of sense. For now, though, the only thing that appears likely is that Joelinton has played his last game for Hoffenheim.

With so much talent and no shortage of growth still to come, though, whoever buys the Brazilian will be getting a top player.
