Having built a reputation as the ‘creche’ of top football prospects, Borussia Dortmund boasts one of the most exciting collections of youngsters in the game. While the likes of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland are the star names, other young players such as Mateu Morey and Tobias Raschl offer other, less stellar, talents that the club is building around.
A new name looks set to join their ranks, too, in the form of England and Birmingham City starlet Jude Bellingham. The player was spotted visiting Carrington to speak to Manchester United but now appears to be set for a move to Germany with BVB. He’ll be part of the first team from his first arrival, despite being only just turning 17 years old. The youngster looks set to avoid interest from clubs in England, as his family seem sure that he’ll get more regular game time with a move to Germany instead.
BVB are a club known for giving youngsters a chance. With many experienced pros like Mats Hummels, Axel Witsel and Marco Reus in the dressing room, too, BVB is a club with a fantastic dressing room to learn within. Sancho has regularly spoken of how Reus took him under his wing and made him a better professional. For Bellingham, working with top coaches and players in midfield such as Witsel could really do the same.
For Dortmund, then, it’s another interesting young kid to add to the side. While Bayern Munich and United have pushed heavily, it looks like the BVB track record of signings with immense potential looks set to continue.
