Despite being told by most of Europe they will sell Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho this summer, Borussia Dortmund are looking to strengthen, not weaken, their side. BVB are in the good books of most of Europe, having been one of the few giants of the game to come out and say no to the European Super League. However, as a club with a known history of planning and preparing properly, Dortmund are known to be looking for another forward to arrive in the summer regardless of what competition they play in.

With UEFA Champions League qualification slightly more likely after a strong weekend of results, BVB are looking to bring in a new striker in the summer. Reports, though, suggest it is to be in competition or in partnership, rather than in replacement, for Haaland. Dortmund are looking to bring in Andre Silva, who is currently at Eintracht Frankfurt. The 25-year-old was seen as a prodigious teenage talent when he first broke through at FC Porto. However, an exit to AC Milan soon arrived, and he failed to make the impression intended when in Italy.

A move to Sevilla in Spain arrived, and a quickfire start including a starring role against Real Madrid had fans excited. His second half to the season, though, was poor. It led to Silva again being loaned out, this time joining Eintracht Frankfurt. An impressive 12 goals in 25 games arrived, and he was signed permanently by the Eagles, signing in September 2020 on a three-year contract.

However, his stellar form this year has left Dortmund and others eager to make a move for a striker who looks to finally be finding his form at the top level of the game.

Who is Andre Silva?

A youth prospect of the highest excitement, Silva was deemed to be the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo in the Portuguese national side. Having impressive at FC Porto with an impressive 24 goals in 58 games as a youngster, his arrival in Italy seen him score 10 goals in 41 games for Milan. This was not enough to stick around, though, with the aforementioned loans to Spain and Germany following.

His time in Germany has been a huge hit, though, with his 12 goals in the Bundesliga in the 2019-20 season earning him a move to Frankfurt permanently. It also seen him beat the record for a Portuguese player in the Bundesliga for goals in a single season.

This year, he has scored a whopping 24 goals in just 28 league games, scoring 25 goals in 30 appearances in total. With just two years to go on his deal come the end of the season, Frankfurt are believed to want around €40m for a player who has impressed massively in his time in the city.

For Dortmund, though, competition from England and across Germany is rife, with many teams eager to pick up a striker who finally looks to be making good on his incredible potential as a young striker.
